How to Practice Having an Abundance Mindset

Anything that you want to create in your life starts in your mind. The way that you think determines how you live. The two most powerful words that you can say are “I am” because what you say after that shapes your reality. Unfortunately, many of us operate from a scarcity mindset.

If you’re in the workplace and find yourself getting depressed because someone else got a raise, you’ve probably got the scarcity mentality. On the other hand, if someone getting a raise gets you excited because that means there’s a possibility of you getting a raise, that’s the abundance mentality at work.

Maybe you have a voice inside of your head that tells you, “I can only have this much”, “I don’t deserve wealth”, “I’ll never be successful”... You, my friend, have a scarcity mindset. The good news is that you have the power to change your life.

The biggest difference between the scarcity mentality and the abundance mentality is that the scarcity mentality cares what other people have, while an abundance mindset doesn’t.

We’re going to do a deep dive and talk about the five ways you can cultivate an abundance mindset and get you out of that scarcity rut.

View failure as an opportunity.

People with an abundance mentality view a missed opportunity or failure in life as a stepping stone to greater success and knowledge. When they fail they bounce right back.

In the famous words of some old white dude I saw on The Crown on Netflix, “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” Failure is what builds resilience.

If you want to achieve success in life you need to embrace failure. Don’t view failure as something that you are... view failure as a lesson that teaches you more about who you are and what you were capable of doing.

Master your mind and your emotions.

If you want to attract more abundance into your life, it is important that you learn to master your mind and your emotions. Reactive people adopt a victim mentality and believe that their lives are run by external factors.

People who adopt an abundance mindset consciously create their own realities. They only concern themselves with what they are able to control and change. Take charge of your life. The only thing you have control over is you. Don’t react to life, instead respond to it with an open mind.  Your thoughts are powerful. Choose your thoughts and words wisely.

Embrace optimism.

If you want to achieve anything in life, you need to maintain an optimistic belief that your desires will be satisfied. An optimistic and positive attitude is really the beginning of a life of happiness fulfillment and gratitude. The definition of optimism is “reacting to problems with the sense of confidence and high personal ability“

Optimistic people believe that the negative events that happen to them are temporary and limited they’re also manageable. Your attitude is everything. No matter what happens in life, if you view challenges from a positive lens, there is nothing that will stand in your way of success.

Be mindful of your company.

Always remember that your vibe attracts your tribe. Your environment has a powerful effect on your behavior whether you like it or not. If you want to live an abundant life, it is important that you surround yourself with people who also have the same philosophy as you.

Are the people in your life bringing you in alignment with your true self? Do they possess an abundance mindset? Try your best to surround yourself with people who bring abundance, joy, and happiness into your life so you can become the best version of yourself.

Don’t compare yourself to others.

When you compare yourself to others, it takes the focus away from the massive amount of abundance that already exists inside of you. Focus on your path, your own personal development, and growth. Take the actions necessary in order to improve yourself and achieve your goals.

Nobody is you. And that is your magic. Your secret sauce. Your power. Don’t come from a place of scarcity, instead,  make a choice to live from a place of abundance. Practice gratitude every day and know that you are exactly where you need to be.

I’m still a work in progress.

I still struggle with a scarcity mindset, especially when it comes to money.

I have a worksheet that I created to help you work on your money mindset blueprint. Here's the link. When you learn how to tap into the infinite abundance that lies in front of you, you will start to change your mindset from one of scarcity to one of expansion.

The secret to having it all is believing that you already do. I challenge you to adopt these five traits of an abundance mindset.  When you do, everything in your life will change for the better.
